Adam is not happy with the way Denos has an apparent hold over the inhabitants of the village, he is forced into action when Janeta, his friend is chosen as the ‘Sacrament of Honour’. None so chosen have ever returned from Denos’ Castle located deep in the hills over the great mountain fold.

Janeta

Theos

Adam’s grandfather. A humanoid-square of advancing years, showing signs of secondary creases. Theos has studied the old ways and has certain theories about how the inhabitants of OruWorld discovered how to fold themselves. But most of the population of the village do not believe in Theos ‘wild claims’

The village have an old agreement with Lord Denos’. Every year a member of their village must become the ‘Sacrament of Honour’. Janeta has been named as the one chosen this time and she discovers that this means she is exiled from the village to work in the service of Denos’. But why have the village come to this arrangement? Gradually Janeta learns the truth.

Canston

One of Denos followers. He carries a sharp bladed spear - lethal to any square. Canston has ambitions to go far in the service of Denos.

One of the Old Guild of folding and one of the keepers of the books of folding. Following the break up of the Guild, Crimpran resided in the Caves of Unknowing

There are roomers of dark experiments, and even talk that Denos has performed the forbidden ‘dangerous folds’.

Each year an occupant of the village must leave their home to go away to the tower of Denos. One year Janeta is chosen and she discovers the dark secret of Denos.
